Winter Fun

Winter and early spring in Abtenau is a snow covered wonderland offering excellent Skiing, Cross Country Skiing, Tobogganing, and Ice Skating. A few minutes walf from Villa Edelweiss are 12 km of downhill pistes and excellent facilities for beginners, with 4km of red runs, 2 km of black runs and 55 km of cross country trails.There are 7 ski lifts, including the Karkogel Gondola. www.karkogel.com

Abtenau/Dachstein West Ski Region Map

Intermediate and experienced skiers will enjoy the Dachstein – West region with its 145 km of groomed slopes. It's encouraging to note that the colour coding in Austria is easier than the equivalent French runs, obviously depending on snow condition. The Ski Express bus links Abtenau with the resorts of Russbach, Annaberg and St. Martin. www.dachstein.net
